Dear Friend,
We've made it through our first year and we're really pleased by the response, by your response. Yes you!
Thank you for your support.
We're taking a much needed little rest to rejuvenate and re-inspire ourselves so that we can continue to scour the land for all that's weird, wonderful, beautiful and original in our own backyard and beyond.
We're concerned you may not be able to go cold turkey without us, so we'll drip feed you while we're gone. Visual stimulation will be provided by photographer Shaun Pascoe, your regular stimulation (Coffee) will supplied by Julia (AKA JU JU), who's making special guest appearances from 8am - 11am over the following dates:

Arty-Facts for the New Century (Or Zen and the Art of Art)
A collection of jewellery and arty-facts by local artisans.
Whether you consider yourself a reformed hippy, an unrepentant new-ager or good old fashioned feral, it is difficult to ignore the energetically charged landscape we inhabit on the Sunshine Coast.
Powerful monoliths dotted around our daily commute are not easily ignored and are a source of inspiration and influence for many artists that reside here.
Culture is pleased to kick off the New Year by acknowledging the painstaking efforts and sensitivities of these artists, as many of us set ourselves on new paths for the coming year. Fusing their own personal take on mysticism, spiritualism and tribalism with skillful hands, and ancient techniques.

Joanna Thompson
Talented young jeweller Joanna Thompson and all round old fashioned guy Erin Sulman draw on their Celtic and German heritage to create modern interpretations of ancient shapes and forms, using ancient smithing techniques.
Joanna comes from a long line of artists and artisans. Inspired by natural forms and textures from a young age, she focused her attention on wire and its many bendy possibilities.
Her enduring fascination with the sea and in particular its most mysterious treasure the pearl, shaped her practice as an artist, and eventually led her to gold and silver-smithing. The bendy wires of her childhood replaced with precious metals, the forms still natural, the end result increasingly elegant and original.

Jivan Leela
Jivan Leela has carefully chosen elements and shapes to create a harmonious whole. A certain vibration if you will, that you may identify with, and that may contribute some subtle shift in your own environment when placed in your home. Imbued with thought and intention, you can consider it a short cut for those too short on time for their own meditative practices.
Prices range from $90 -$750
Jewellery - Hand Made -One Off - Local - Special
We encourage you to drop your aesthetic guard and examine the subtle effects of the works. While some of the jewellery may intimidate you, we hope you take the time to adorn yourself differently for a moment, and mark the effects different stone and form combinations have on your person. Ancient societies utilise various forms of adornment to enhance appearance, signify status and identity, and as an expression of culture. Metal and stone has been used to fortify, charge and protect us. The signs, shapes and symbols etched onto these works are concentrated thought in action that go beyond the literal.
